Marion Swetz of Scranton passed away Monday at the age of 90 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Daniel Swetz who died in 2006. She was a devoted and caring wife to Daniel for many years prior to his death.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabel Madus Wyshock. Prior to retirement Marion was employed as a talented seamstress. She was a member of Saint Patrick’s parish.
Marion’s family would like to thank Drs. Weston, Burah, Rebar, Nawaz and Metcho for the attentive care they provided that allowed her to enjoy a long, fullfilled, happy life.
In life Marion was a part of a close family unit and spent much of her time with her children, grandchildren and son in laws.
She was a talented cook, baker, a creative seamstress and quilter. When she was staying at her daughters home, she enjoyed watching birds, deer and the occasional bear and was always excited when they showed up at her window.
Marion was a gentle, humble, kind, funny, happy woman who will be missed dearly.
Marion is survived by her children, Lisa Walsh, Mary Beth Scalese and spouse Christopher, Edward Swetz, Donna Dolinish and spouse George and Sandra Seranno and spouse Michael.
Marion leaves behind 12 grandchildren whom were all her favorite. She taught them to be happy and live life to the fullest.
The funeral will be conducted on Friday with Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM in The Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram St. Family and friends may pay their respects at the church starting at 12:30 PM until the start of the Mass. Please be mindful of the guidelines as social distancing and wearing a face covering will be enforced.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you send a donation to your local Meals on Wheels organization.
