Obituary for
Dominick Fiorillo
Dominick Fiorillo of Scranton passed away Monday morning at the home of his daughter after an illness. His wife of 52 years, the former Gina Villella, passed away May 7, 2016.
Born in San Mango D’ Aquino, Provincia di Catanzaro, Italy, he was the son of the late Carmine and Rosanna Caputo Fiorillo. Before his retirement, he was employed by the Suckle Corporation, Scranton. He immigrated to America in 1964 and settled in the Scranton area.
Dominick had an infectious smile that he shared with everyone he encountered. He had a heart of gold, very generous to all, always willing to share his bounty with everyone.
He had several hobbies and interests, among them was playing bocci, cards, fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He loved his trips to Italy, especially enjoying the two summers he spent in San Mango.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of the Bayada Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
He was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, formerly a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Church until its closing; he was also a life member of the San Mango D’Aquino Mutual Benefit Society.
Surviving are two daughters, Rosanna Martinelli and husband, Leonard; and Lisa O’Hara and wife, Nicole, all of Scranton; grandchildren, Gina Torquato, Jeffrey and Sean O’Hara; two brothers, Antonio Fiorillo and wife, Giovanna; and Frank Fiorillo and wife, Francesca; sister-in-law, Cesira Berardelli and husband, Joseph; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Catherine Berardelli and husband, Anthony; a brother in -law, Armando Villella.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Mary, Mother of God Parish, 316 William St. All attendees are asked to proceed directly to church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave.
Please note all CDC guidelines will be observed including face covering, social distancing and refrain of physical contact with the family. Also, in order to accommodate all visitors, there may be a period of waiting before entering the funeral home. Please pay your respects in a timely manner so others may do so.
The family understands that some may be uncomfortable attending the services due to the pandemic, please say a prayer for Dominick instead.
