Obituary for Theresa M. Markowski
Theresa M. Markowski of North Scranton died Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in the company of family and friends, following a courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. Her Husband is Robert C. Markowski, the couple married June 24, 1989.
Born in Orange, New Jersey on January 29, 1966, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Ruddy and Joan McDonough Ruddy. Theresa was a 1984 Graduate of Scranton Central High. Prior to her illness she was employed by Scranton Orthopedic Specialists.
Theresa had many hobbies; a few of her favorites were spending time with her family, hosting holiday and family parties; cake baking and decorating with her friend Christina Simon. She also enjoyed her weekly visits to Neen’s Diner with her friend Donna Jablonski.
Theresa was a loving, kind, and caring individual. She always put the needs of others ahead of her own. Her children and now her grandchildren were the center of her world.
Also surviving is a son, Robert Jr. and wife Samantha, Mohrsville, PA; two daughters, Michele Matay and husband Kyle, Scranton; Amy Markowski, Scranton; a granddaughter, Lacey Markowski; and expecting a new grandchild Baby Matay in April;
A brother, Joseph Ruddy Jr. and wife Ann, Scranton; two sisters, Margaret Ruddy, Scranton, and Lori Czachor and husband Chris, Madison Twp.; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Mary, Mother of God Parish, 316 William St. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. Family and friends may call Monday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In her last selfless act, Theresa made an organ donation to the Gift of Life Program.
The family would also like to thank the many healthcare professionals that cared for Theresa during her five-year courageous battle.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to be made to the American Cancer Society/Ovarian Cancer donations, 712 South Keyser Ave., Taylor, PA 18517.
