Ruth Intoccia, 98, of Scranton died peacefully on April 27, 2018 surrounded by family members. She was married to her beloved husband, Vincent for 70 years.
Born in Angelica, NY to the late Merle and Freda Suitor Cannon, she worked as a private child care nurse in Brooklyn, NY and Philadelphia before marriage.
Ruth was devoted to her faith and it showed in her love for her family. She enjoyed watching her family grow and playing with her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Known to her family as a great cook and baker, she enjoyed serving her special recipes especially at holiday times.
Ruth is survived by her husband Vincent; her children Vincent Intoccia and wife Jeannie, Mark Intoccia and wife Joan, and Neil Intoccia and wife Debbie; six grandchildren, Tony Intoccia and wife Sarah, Jeff, John, Peter, Marissa Intoccia and fiancé Zachary, and Christina and husband Matthew Meyers; three great-grandchildren, August and Lilly Intoccia, and William Meyers.
She was preceded in death by sisters Alice and Freda and a brother Robert.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 am in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc. 1030 N. Main Ave. Scranton with Rev. Dr. Murray Joseph Thompson as officiating clergy. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Presbyterian Church, 1145 Providence Rd., Scranton, PA 18508.
