Elizabeth “Betty” Shaffer, 77, of Scott Township, passed away April 23rd at home.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Maude Saville Graham. She was the widow of the late John J Shaffer.
Betty was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great great-grandmother. She spent her younger years raising 12 children. She earned her diploma as a student of the Scranton School District.
Her golden years were spent riding on the back of the Harley and traveling.
She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and trips to the casino. She was the past secretary for the South Abington Lions Club. Betty served the club for years before being inducted as the first female Lion.
She will be deeply missed by all that knew her, and will be remembered for her faith, courage, strength, and determination.
She is survived two daughters, Michele Wheeler and Bruce, Clarks Summit, Lori Hunsinger, Scranton; four sons, Chris Hunsinger and Sheila, Scranton, Bob Hunsinger and Dawn, Tunkhannock, Paul Hunsinger, Scranton, Scott Hunsinger and Stephanie, Scott Twp., three step sons, Mark Hunsinger, Lake Winola, Gary Hunsinger and Ellie, Scranton, George Hunsinger and Bonnie, Lake Winola.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Hunsinger, and her second husband John Shaffer; two brothers, Michael and Paul Graham; two sons, Jerome and Carl Hunsinger; a step-son, Jackie Hunsinger.
Family and friends pay their respects Sunday 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave.
