Robert F. Walsh, a guest at Allied Skilled Nursing Center, formerly of the Tripp Park Section, where he was affectionately known as “The Mayor,” died Monday May 29, 2017 at the center.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Francis Gregory and Lillian Ancherani Walsh; he attended west Scranton High School and prior to his injury he was employed as an Iron Worker with Local #489.
He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the entire staff at Allied Skilled Nursing for the wonderful care they provided, especially everyone on the third floor.
Surviving is a daughter, Kristin Stanton and husband Jesse, Clarks Summit; a son Robert Walsh and husband Robert, Jermyn; grandchildren, Joshua, Aydan, Reece, and Nola; a brother, Brian Walsh and wife Debbie; Scranton; a sister, Linda Walsh affectionately known as “The Drill Sergeant” by the some patients and staff at Allied, Scranton; his former wife, Joan Walsh; several nieces and a nephew, and cousins.
The funeral will be conducted on Friday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave. with Divine Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. in St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, 430 N. 7th Ave, Scranton, celebrated by Reverend Myron Myronyuk. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
